Game style online learning

Session Description
In online classes, it’s hard for some students to keep the motivation to study because the environment of online studying is different from face-to- face classroom environment. However, almost all students like to play some kind of game. If a game-like component is incorporated into online learning, students should be able to sustain and possibly increase their motivation and they have incentive to study.

In this presentation, the presenter will show how the app “memrize” has been integrated into his Japanese online class so that students feel that it’s like a game to study vocabulary, and the Japanese writing system. The presentation will show how this app is incorporated in an online class. The presenter considered using similar other apps, however, the reason why he choose to use memrize will be discussed. Feedback from students will be also shared with the audience.

Disclaimer: The presenter isn’t affiliated with “memrize” and he’s not soliciting this app.
