Session Description
This session examines the experience of launching an online graduate program, and the development of strategies to build and sustain an online community with both faculty and students. We discuss our process for faculty assignments, support for potentially high drop courses (1st term courses, Research Methods, Psychopharmacology, Testing & Assessment, Psychopathology, etc.), faculty community building, and student clubs. Gibson (2006) suggests that communities of leaders, who are engaging with one another, can foster solutions by including multiple “voices” to solve common problems. As Argyris and Schön (1992) suggest, organizations work, learn, and evolve together; so, we conclude with reflections on the current status of our program, and potential future application and research.
