This presentation will demonstrate how KU’s CTL uses Google+ as an efficient tool, both for users as well as back-end administration. We will also discuss how we used the Google+ Community feature to build and maintain community throughout the university and to index content so it is easily accessible to faculty and staff. We will share how Google+ has transformed how we connect, communicate, and collaborate with faculty and staff as well as how we promote our training and professional development offerings.
As Brzozowski, et al. (2015) explain, “We found most active users describe their motivations for joining Google+ Communities to be finding like-minded people and finding relevant content” (p. 3781). This has been our experience while using Google+ as a hub for connecting and sharing with faculty and staff. In addition, Google pluses such as camaraderie, support, opportunity, networking, and indexing content will be highlighted so the participants may have a better understanding of Google+ Communities and construct ideas on how this tool may be used in their own work environment.
