Getting together with a click: Evaluation of E-Learning via Rubric

Session Description
The State of California has called into question the quality and quantity of “regular and substantive interaction” of more than one thousand courses offered online at Coastline Community College. In order to respond to demands for evidence of “sufficient quality interaction”, Coastline has created a four-part rubric, which will be presented and exemplified here for discussion. The four elements of the rubric–Individualized assignment feedback, group discussion fora, announcements, and the setting of expectations– will be defined, discussed, and calculated, with the aim of making officials recognize the value of E-learning.
