Introduction to Life Sciences Degrees: A Flipped Advising Approach

Session Description
The University of Hawaii at Manoa’s Department of Biology provides academic advising services to over 1200 life science major undergraduates. The office is staffed with one director, two full-time advisors, and two peer advisors. In order to make this ratio successful, the office decided to move the prescriptive advising information (information that is the same for all students) online, with screencast videos, recorded using Camatsia. This session will discuss the strategies implemented, the advantages and disadvantages of moving advising content online, and the planned steps moving forward.
